I don’t wanna complain but in OS-X Snow Leopard with Quicktime+Perian (all updates/latest versions yada yada), I’ve recently got a white border on the right and bottom with your H264 versions (haven’t downloaded xvid).
It really sucks. So I’m wondering if it’s just me or if something went from with the encoding? Or that maybe others are experiencing it as well =/

Nah, Quicktime isn’t the issue. So I refuse to use mplayer or VLC :P
Besides, I’ve had too many issues with VLC on mac in the recent past.
I just checked up on a couple of vids:
Railgun H264:
episode 5, 6, 7 = good
episode 8 = bad (has white edges)
Needless H264:
Episode 18, 19 = good
Episode 20, 21 = bad
KissXsis XVID = good
KissXsis H264 = good
So I dunno what it is, but maybe somebody is forgetting a setting for the encoding process?
Since the old vids are good it can’t be my computer at fault :P
MPlayer OS X Extended plays Ayako’s and other groups releases perfectly. Stop being so damn stubborn. In some cases Quicktime can’t even render the fonts properly.
Also Valkyria Chronicles where…….?
I never talked about Valkyria Cronicals.
I said VLC as in VideoLan Client. Or the player you talked about.
I am not stubborn. I am just saying something is going wrong with the encoding process. If it’s not accepted here to post any issues and where they may lie. Then so be it.
But maybe I should go to another subbing group then (at least for Needless and Railgun), unfortunatly. =/

LOL, someone threatening to stop watching something that someone else produces for free. Here, let’s play fair. If ANYONE ELSE, EVER, AT ALL HAS THESE ISSUES WITH NEEDLESS/RAILGUN IN OS-X SNOW LEOPARD WITH QUICKTIME+PERIAN POST HERE. Let’s see if this is a recurring issue.

I’ll make a list for you here on what i’m running etcetera so that you can easily do a copy and paste to the rest of the team if needed.
Hardware: Mac Mini (early 2009) (4GB mem, 500gig 7200rpm drive)
OS: Mac OS-X 10.6.2 (all latest updates up till November 25th)
Player: Quicktime X (Version 10.0 (90.3.1)) + Perian 1.1.4
Complaint: White Border on the bottom and right side of the screen during entire episode.
Episodes:
Railgun H264:
episode 5, 6, 7 = good
episode 8 = bad (has white edges)
Needless H264:
Episode 18, 19 = good
Episode 20, 21 = bad
KissXsis XVID = good
KissXsis H264 = good
Playback time of occurrence: During the entire episode of each bad episode mentioned above.

I hoop you guys can figure out what’s wrong. I’ve added some screenshots as a visual aid to help you see what’s going on. In the screenshot I intentionally left the Quicktime X GUI. You can see that the second icon from the left on the right. It is a feature that let’s you stretch the video image to the screen’s width. But it will only stretch it up till the white border, which is like 4 millimeters on each side.
Also note that on the good episode 19 of Needless, that this icon/button is not present and fills the entire screen.
So it must be a size related issue I think, but I haven’t got the slightest knowledge about video encoding.
Anyway, hope you guys can find the problem. I’ll keep posting on every bad episode as asked.

So 22 episode will be the last?
It’s going to 24. If you’ve read the manga, you know what’s happens there, so I’m wondering if they’ll go manga route or do their own ending. Kinda hoping manga route and second season next summer.
Why are you just assuming they will be 24 or that it will continue next summer? The anime started 5 years after the manga so they don’t need to delay it or anything.
That’s not right. The manga series is published in Ultra Jump, therefore it’s monthly. Just 30 pages per month, so you can figure out the animation is catching up really quickly.

I love that even though this is in a different reality, and technology seems to be much more advanced than it is here, that at 1:48 they are using wikipedia.
