Sea Story Ep. 01 Released
This show is a mature show only for mature audience such as myself only for slice-of-life fans. You should only watch this if you’ like ARIA or Sketchbook ~full colors~, otherwise you’ll find it boring. Umi Monogatari is based on a very popular pachinko machine series made by Sanyo.
As foreigners, you may not be aware that pachinko is a serious social problem in Japan due to addiction. Some Japanese had gone bankrupt because of pachinko; babies had died of heatstroke in cars in the summer heat while their parents sit in front of pachinko machines.
The Pachinko industry is also mostly controlled by Japan-born Koreans. Economists have suggested that a part of the 30 trillion yen it generates yearly is diverted to North Korea.
So every time a Japanese plays Pachinko, the money goes to this guy to make nuclear weapons.
Bottom line: Love Umi Monogatari but hate Pachinko!

So just because its controlled by Japanese Born Koreans that means that they could be sending money to North Korea? they live in democratic Japan, not communist North Korea, aid and relief stuff I can understand but not money to make nukes.

Of course, Japan is clamping down on it but pachinko parlours are related to the yazuka, and people tend to turn a blind eye when it’s yakuza-related. Democratic Japan has more shady politics than you think.

i like some slice of life but this one just seems to not to much like a slice of life to me, but it does have that aria feel which i liked, but like Aria ill watch this after it completes cause don’t like watching slice of life on a weekly base rather do em in on go

I am the timer, typesetter and encoder who has put EFFORT in this show.
About your complain, it’s true that we’ve found 3 lines which should have started earlier, the rest are more like video/audio desync in source, very similar but not to the extent of Simoun. We have to agree that the typesetting is too basic as well.
We made some changes in typesetting, we’re looking for another ayako release with minor changes, better video, better VLC compatibility, or lol trolling. About missing lines, we may not translate some noises, background voices, or too simple voices such as “Un”. (Since it’s done in mid night in our timezone)
What with the fuzz about minor errors? Do you vomit each time the timing is wrong or what? lol.
Timing is not a concern usually.
However, this time even myself had noticed that something was out of place, so it’s smart to see why and not to make the same mistake in ep2+.
